Internet Safety Classes for Girls

A 2002 study by Girl Scout Research Institute found that girls between the ages of 13-18 need stringer parental guidance when navigating the Net. 30% of the girls surveyed reported being sexually harassed in a chat room and 86% surveyed said that they could chat in a chat room without their parents' knowledge. The Girl Scouts of the USAs, in turn, have implemented "Staying Safe - Issues for Girls" program which allows girls to participate in workshops on media know-how. Read more.

This seems like a step in the right direction, but unfortunately, is only open to Girl Scout participants. We need to do better than this. We're excluding all boys and a large segment of girls with this education. How can we make programs like this available to all kids?

you're fucking ridiculous. of course anyone going into a chat room is going to get 'harassed.' that's what chat rooms are fucking for.. people go in, find people they think are hot, and trade naked pics. that and/or find people in their city to meet up and fuck. kids not old enough to drive that're going into random chat rooms are just looking for naked pictures of people. thats what chat rooms are for these days.
any chat rooms that are meant for anything else are created by someone for that specific purpose for probably a half hour tops. ie: your child and a few of their friends are planning where to go/what to do/whatever that night via AIM.. so instead of relaying all the shit from IM window to IM window, they just make a chat room for a few minutes so they can all see it.

shit like saying "__% of girls ages _-_ that went into chat rooms were harassed" is total bullshit. i could sit here and cry about being harassed every few fucking hours if i wanted to. girls (and boys) on the internet all sit there and say omg youre so hot blah blah.. sorry but saying someone's hot or that youd like to fuck them, on the internet, is not fucking sexual harassment. or else millions of kids would be in jeuvy. go ahead n fuckin check out what im saying on my other site.. my comments..

you people really need to get ahold of yourselves and shut the fuck up. any kid that knows how to work a computer on an average or moderate to advanced level, knows whatthefuck to do to be safe. even if theyre 11 (which i was when i started using AIM and blogger sites and such).

get the fuck off your kids' nuts. they can fend for themselves.
